On Food and Recipes

When people are away from home for a long time, they'd end up craving for food they grew up with. I remember the time I was doing lots of business-related trips. I’d stuff my suitcase with lots of mixes so I can cook whatever I feel like eating. I’d even ask other people to bring food from home for me.

My cousin, who lives in London, lost a lot of weight because she can't find Filipino food over there. She rarely eats rice and consumes sandwiches and salads most of the time. It's also unfortunate that she doesn't know how to cook. Needless to say, her cravings aren't satisfied.

I hope she found these online recipes. They're very simple to follow specially for someone who doesn't spend a lot of time cooking. If she's adventurous enough, she can experiment with different cuisines. The same website carries food products from Asia, the Middle East, Americas and Europe. She also need not worry about getting the ingredients. Everyday ingredients, including hard-to-find food products, may be purchased from the same site. The products they carry are categorized by ethnicity or by origin. She’s bound to find something from the 4500 types of food in this online market. If it’s not there, she can suggest a product. Cooking and purchasing ingredients will be a breeze. She won’t have an excuse next time.

Maybe, I should send her a care package. I’m thinking of getting several bottles of Mang Tomas Sauce (the Philippines’ all around sauce), Jufran Banana Ketchup (perfect for crispy fried chicken), some instant noodles (when she doesn’t feel like cooking), rice (our staple), soy sauce, fish sauce and various mixes and sauces. I could probably throw in some drinks like green tea or mango juice. I hope the flat shipping rate of $4.99 still applies.

Gratitude Calendar 11/5

I have always been afraid of the dark.  But growing up and becoming a parent, I have learned to overcome that (along with other fears), so that my children will not grow up fearing trivial things.

Luxury Bags in Japan

Since almost everyone I know visited Japan this summer, I would like re-live my visit this year through this post.  This time, I will focus on luxury bags. We've heard about the usual reseller shops that house these luxury brands.  The one I can remember now is Daikokuya. I must've visited almost all reseller shops I've seen on the road.  I've noticed that these shops carry the top 3 popular ones:  Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.  There still are several pieces of Balenciaga, Valentino, Tory Burch, Celine, Gucci and Michael Kors but not as abundant as the top 3.  I guess what carries the most value are the three popular ones. If you are looking for cheap designer bags, I suggest checking out Don Quixote.  You will usually find on the topmost floors on Donki.  I think this is the one in Shinjuku. I am not so sure. You find them arranged like this or inside locked glass cabinets.  I'm sure the artisans who made these bags will tu...

Gratitude Calendar 2024

I stumbled upon a "challenge" that I thought would be fun and something I can actually do.  I think this will help change my mindset and prepare me for the coming holidays.  Here goes.... Today, I am grateful for the following: 1.  Time for prayer 2.  Convenience of travel and parking when we visited the cemetery 3.  Free lunch
