Marks and Spencer Bakery

I couldn't believe it  until I saw it.  I didn't even know that there was such a thing.  I didn't encounter anything similar in HK or in UK.  But, I knew that their pastries and desserts were really good.  The Marks and Spencer Bakery is located beside the M&S boutique in Eastwood.  In fact, they share the same entrance.  Upon entering the food section, you'd see a small display rack of the breads, doughnuts and cookies on the left.  On the other side, you'll see the packaged food items.  The frozen pies and dinners were located on the opposite wall. There weren't a lot of baked goods to choose from.  There were only a couple of doughnuts left, a few pieces of cookies, one piece of bagel, several almond croissants and other British pastries.  The batards and baguettes were stacked in the corner of the counter, below one's line of sight.   I am not sure if the display, or the lack of, will be good business for them.  I only got to sample the chocol

Targets

Some would call them wishlists. I call them targets. For the kitchen, these are my targets from my favorite home store, Crate and Barrel. An apple corer A Mango pitter. You may have seen Bobby Flay use this several times in Boy Meets Grill and Throwdown.  An Ice Cream maker, which is currently at half-price An compact smoothie maker, also at half-price And, just because it is so cute, a strawberry huller.  I can't even guess how to use it.  I am not even fond of strawberries. And, like all other targets, I just might miss them.

Playing Pretend

Pretend was the name of the game.  I was pretending that I was watching Junior Master Chef while Johann and Javi were playing pretend.  My eyes were glued to the TV because if I give them as much as a glance, the boys will stop with whatever their doing. Here is Johann and  one of his imaginary conversations in his pretend phone.  He was holding one of his toy cars against his ear while the other hand was clutching on the steering wheel. "San ka na?"  After a few minutes...  "EDSA pa lang ako eh, papunta ko Pasig."  Pausing to hear the other side of the conversation, he says, "O sige punta na kayo dito." I had to stop and think who he was imitating.  He sounded like me.  The situation looked like me.  I almost always have conversations on the phone while driving.  Here is another one.  "O Pepsi, nag order na kayo?"  He was "talking" to his Ninang but assuming the character of his dad. "Mag-order ka na, isang lechon at baka

Times Flies

We're celebrating Bettina's birthday in 3 weeks.  I've been planning this for nearly a year.  I booked our suppliers more than 6 months ahead.  I decided on the party theme nearly that long also.  Even if I had time to plan, I still encountered several setbacks, with the host/entertainer, photographer, giveaways.  I am meeting with my Jhoanne of Polkadots soon so we can finalize all the other details.   Anyway, here's the invitation Tito Boyette came up with.   More party details to follow =D

Cosmetic(s) Change

I've been meaning to replace my face powder for weeks now. I've been using a cheapangga brand and I can feel it on my face.  I can also see the effect it has.  My complexion has changed and I don't blame it all on lack of sleep.  However, I only remember that when it is time to put on "my face." So, yesterday, before going to the grocery, I made a quick visit to the cosmetics section.  I went back to one of my tried and tested brands and I found out that they released a new variant.   I was so pleased when I tested it over the counter.  Though it comes with great coverage, it doesn't feel heavy.  It also has this cooling effect on the skin.  Don't you think it's perfect for summer? It is P300 more expensive than the other kind but I guess that's because the brush applicator is of better quality.   I thought it was such a bargain at first.  Then, I saw how much Target retails the item.  I could have gotten it for half the price If I only wai

Hay Naku!

It is hard to think happy thoughts when unpleasant surprises come my way.  I'm a planning freak so when something disrupts my plan, I get very upset.  I cope but I get upset. Impeding trips or online (window) shopping usually perk me up.  But it isn't working this time.
