Daddy's Bday at Cafe 1771

For Vic's birthday lunch, we made our way to Ortigas. We've been wanting to try out the new Cafe 1771. As we made our way to our table, we saw Tito Ricky and bade him a quick hello. Unlike the other 1771 restos, this one has brightly-colored interiors. I told Vic that it resembled Cafe Juanita but not in a quirky way. Though the place was filled with mismatched chairs and funky decor, it still looked organized and cozy. Like Juanita, they also had items on sale. As expected, the waiters were very attentive. They took away the plates as soon as they're empty. Water glasses were always refilled. Looking at the menu, I could tell that the selection is quite expensive for the "Ordinaryong Manggagawa." I guess they cater more to the executive diners. Lunch for Vic and me was already over 2000 pesos. Buti na lang we were celebrating something. Otherwise Taj Mahal for an ordinary weekday lunch. As expected the food was very palatable. We had cheese-stuffed

To Commemorate EDSA

Last night, Fr. Caluag con-celebrated a Mass for the 25th Anniversary of the People Power Revolution. It was one of those masses where there the congregation was made up mostly of choir members. Sad =( When he, together with some Pnoy supporters, launched the "Pagbabago Movement" 25 weeks ago, I expected the 25th Anniversary mass to have the same number of followers. If that was any indication of how people remember EDSA, then people need frequent reminders. In the words of Fr. C, "We first need to REMEMBER before we can CELEBRATE. We need to recall the blessing and the grace that God has given us that made the Revolution a success." ------------- Present during the mass was the very image of Our Lady of Fatima that was used during the Revolution. It was said to be carved in Portugal according to the specifications of Sister Lucia. Hearing the history behind the image of Our Lady gave me goosebumps. The image is now under the care of the Dominican Brothers. Th

Travel Tour Expo 2011

I went to SMX on the first day. The objective was to scout for the most economical fare for our upcoming trips: Europe in July and US in May. Our plan was to decide over the weekend and purchase tickets on Sunday, if needed. For Europe these were our options: 1. Avail of the Etihad-Eurail bundle for $1100. This offer was our priority because Etihad gave us the cheapest round-trip fare online. In addition to that, the Eurail pass will cover our transpo for our side-trips. The only problem was the people didn't know if the promo covers our travel dates. 2. Cathay Pacific flights to EU for $900. We need to book for this flight on the last day of the Expo. For the US trip, the cheapest I could get was also USD1000+. I heard of the PAL and AA tie-up for East-Coast or Midwest destinations. Unfortunately, the promotion is only valid for connecting flights. Since we plan to spend a few days in the West before moving to another state, di pwede. For Asian Destinations, there were

Are We Ready?

Johann received a toddler bed for Christmas. Vic hasn't assembled it yet. We still have to get Johann a mattress for the bed. He is turning 4 this June and I am wondering if it is time to make him sleep in his own room. At present, all kids stay in the master bedroom. This way, we can spend time with the kids, without the yayas and we can save up on electricity because only 1 A/C will be running at night. We have an extra mattress on the floor, initially intended to break the fall of kids from the big bed. Javi and I sleep on the big bed. Vic and Johann use the extra mattress because the A/C cools that part of the room better than the big bed. Bettina sleeps in the crib but co-sleeps with me when she wakes up at night. Moving Johann to the other room means that Javi has to stay there, too. Otherwise, he won't budge. Since they're still not too comfortable with the new yayas, they still want to spend more time with us. They are extra clingy also. Hay, when should

CityLink

I just found out yesterday that CityLink shuttles to all Megaworld properties. Depending on the traffic, pick up is every 30 minutes. I've been wanting to explore Resorts World but I do not want to drive all the way to Pasay just to kill time. So, I guess, I can just park at Eastwood then take the shuttle to Resorts World. Mga trip nga naman. Hehehe.

Bettina Update - 9 Months

Yesterday, Bettina graduated from the rear-facing infant seat to front-facing car seat. She was comfortable enough in Kuya Johann's seat, though I'd like to her to exchange seats with Kuya Javi. She was quite pleased by what she saw in the side windows. This past week, she has been having trouble breathing. She caught the bug that left her two kuyas, me and Daddy sleepless for several nights. We recently discovered that she has atopic dermatitis like me. Her face and limbs have rashes caused her additional discomfort. Despite her condition, she remains to be a happy baby. Still very cheerful even if her eyes are getting heavy from all the allergy and cold meds. In a few months' time, we'll be celebrating her 1st birthday. I'm still going to use the ballerina theme, as planned. I'm still picking the brains of my party planner on how we can involve the boys.

2011 Events

Here are several events I'd like to visit. I hope to score some good deals in there. Kaya lang it will conflict with ACS' planning weekend. Then, for my other hobby (aside from singing, traveling and shopping =D), Unfortunately, their all going to be held in SMX. Mej kalayuan from my side of the boondocks.
