Major FAIL!

I made it home in record time, 13mins to be exact.  Getting inside the house was another story.  It took me 15 minutes to wake the helper. I forgot my keys to the house, you see.  She forgot to turn off the phone. I had to resort to yelling their names using my barely-there voice.  Didn't work.  I hosed the windows from ground floor.  It didn't work either.  I ended up giving myself a shower instead.  Making the dogs bark didn't work too.  I found a plastic container to throw to the window.  That woke her up. Hay naku, award kami pareho.  Siyempre di ko mapagalitan kasi wala nga kong boses.

A Note to BPI

Dear BPI, By the time I get through the Hotline number, my card may have already been maxed out.  My savings may have been cleaned up by some thief.   Thankfully, I have no urgent concerns to deal with you right now. Seriously, you need more people answering urgent concerns.  Waiting for more than 5 minutes is simply unacceptable. Sincerely, A Valued Client

Hinog Sa Pilit

I am often bothered by pre-school children dressed like teenagers, sometimes posing as teenagers would.  Why do some moms allow that?  I suppose they find it cute.  I find it strange because some moms hold on to their daughters' childhood as long as they can, by dressing them appropriately and telling them to act their age. Hay, it's almost as bad as a 40y/o dressing like her daughters. What's your take on this?

Three Continents

... in one week.  That's how it was for Vic.  It is awfully tiring, both physically and emotionally.  We arrived from our vacation last Tuesday.  Yesterday, I brought him to the airport for Oz.  My kids and I can't wait for the next 6 weeks.  Hay, buhay OFW.  Ang hirap pala.

Hay Naku!

It is hard to think happy thoughts when unpleasant surprises come my way.  I'm a planning freak so when something disrupts my plan, I get very upset.  I cope but I get upset. Impeding trips or online (window) shopping usually perk me up.  But it isn't working this time.

If You Were in My Place

WARNING: Major RANTING about to take place Remember my super-lost all-around help? I sent her home over a month ago because she's been giving me headaches. She begged me several times, with matching tears, that she can't go home without her sister and that she'd have to wait for her sister to bring her home. I gave her two weeks to deal with it. I presumed that she'd save up her money for her trip home. Then when it is convenient for her, she tells me her mother is sick and she is being asked to go home. I told her that is not problem with me because she is scheduled to leave anyway. I just told her to leave on the date we agreed upon. I also gave her one condition: She can't stay at my in-law's place, where her sister is working, because she doesn't work there. (You see, even if I am pregnant and about to give birth, I'd rather deal with house chores than with people who lack iodine in their system.) Two weeks before I let her go, I told her tha...

Mystery Shopper

When we moved out of my in-law's house, we left some of the stuff in the rooms we stayed in. Last weekend, I decided to go through the pile. Most of which are Javi's birthday and Christmas gifts. To our surprise, several packages were empty. Looks like somebody decided to "shop" thinking that we wouldn't notice. There goes another HAY NAKU moment for me.

Deep-Seated Sense of Insecurity or Sibling Rivalry?

While the yayas were eating their dinner, I amused Javi by letting him ride on a tandem bike. Lolo saw him and wanted to get him a bike he can ride with Kuya Johann. As they were paying for it, the rest of the cousins swarmed around them. Somebody said that the birthday celebrant should get her pick already. She declined because she's getting a lechon for her party. One asked how much spent for my boys. It's as if they didn't get to spend time with Lolo earlier in the day. It's as if they didn't get their toys c/o Lolo , that same morning. Hay naku . Once again, the pleasure of giving and receiving was marred by envy. Some people receive more than their fair share of gifts without any reaction from us. Why can't they just be content?

Mindless or Insensitive?

How would you describe a person who parked right beside you but didn't even remember to put enough space for the driver to get into the car? Last Sunday, I was so mad because I parked at the last designated slot to ensure that I won't have problems getting in. Dang! Even Kate Moss can't slide into the gap. I doubt if I left enough scratch marks when I slid my key along the sides of that two-toned Civic. In my fury, I called the guard and reprimanded him. Di naman niya kasalanan pero hello lang, bakit niya pinabayaan. Ganun daw kasi pag puno. To which I replied, "Wala ba kayong towing dito?" Wala daw. Dun na lang daw ako pumasok sa passenger side. Siyempre, nagalit ako lalo. "Nakita mo bang buntis ako?!?!?" Ano pa nga bang magagawa ko? I needed to leave. I manoeuvred myself carefully into the driver's seat, trying to hold back every curse I know. I have an echo riding at the passenger seat, after all. I desperately wanted to thrash the ca...

Nakakalowka

I need to get out. I need an escape to keep my sanity. My extra-bobs help has been finding ways to get to me EVERYDAY. I've been having a hard time curbing my tongue. It is so easy to snap at everybody these days. I doesn't help that the eldest boy isn't being very cooperative also. He's been suffering from really bad cough since Saturday. I'm trapped.

It Isn't Funny

It rained heavily when I woke up. As usual, they suspended classes when the kids are already in school…after some (commuting) kids had to brave the rain and flood. A few hours later, the rain stopped. The sun shone. I'm sure when it's my turn to pick my kids and get stuck in traffic on my way back, I won't find it amusing at all. ----------------------------- Can't PAG-ASA find the budget to get a more sophisticated equipment? The technology to forecast weather real-time has been existing for several years already. We can now tell if the hurricane is about to hit in the next minute. Why can't we have that here?

Real Deal Daw

So, Vic and I stayed up till the wee hours of Monday just to avail of PAL's promo for the coming months. It seemed like everyone had the same strategy as ours. I started my online search right before midnight. I figured, by the time it would finish searching, I would see the promo right before my eyes. Thirty minutes had passed, still no search results. Another twenty minutes resulted to nothing. We decided to sleep on it. I just knew the online reservation thingy of PAL just couldn't handle the load. Diba sila nag-stress test man lang? The site hangs on any ordinary day, why should I expect anything else on a major traffic day? I woke up for Javi's 4am feeding. I tried searching once again. Sayang din naman kasi. The MNL-LAS quote is 16XX per person. Okay, lost cause na ito. When I woke up once again at around 830am, I got a 300+ fare for the MNL-LAS route. I hurriedly got my card so I can proceed to the payment part. However, I realized, I should check if I ...

What's Up With PLDT?

This is the fourth day that I don't have DSL . We've reported the problem several times. On the second, they said that we're lined up for some remote testing. Ping test lang ba yun ? Today, they said it was a network problem that affects the whole Balara area. The couldn't give me an idea as to when the service would be restored. I am currently resigned to using the hubby's Visibility to access the Internet. It gets disconnected every five minutes. How am I supposed to get some online shopping done, let alone some research?

Stuffit

Allow me to savor my gifts a bit longer. Pwede? Okay na ko.

Puzzled

This is how I am currently accessing the Internet. This is how the IT in me made it work. As I've written in my previous post, I have several options on how to still utilize the Mac. I tried using the TV as my monitor. It worked on Vic's Lenovo but it won't work on the Mac. I finally got over the laziness and decided to test the PC monitor. It worked! Excitedly, I detached the monitor from the desktop and transferred it to the bedroom. That way, I can stay with my sleeping boys while I surf. When I finally decided to log back in again, I can't see my wallpaper, the icons and everything else! Grrr . I figured, it must be the resolution. Since I have a broken monitor, my only option is to use the short keys. I called several people to see if the can help me out. I got nothing. Apparetly , there are no short keys to change the resolution. It seemed stupid, but I decided to reconnect the Mac to the TV again then to the stand-alone monitor. It worked the first ...

I want! I want!

One of the items in my wish list is to get a new pair of sunglasses. The one I currently use for driving is 4 years old. There are visible scratches on the lens and the plastic frame is bent abnormally. ------------------ I remember buying that pair in Rustan's . It was on sale. It was worth a little over P3000. I have never spent that much on a pair of sunglasses so I was a bit undecided. But, it was the only pair that looked good on me. It was extremely difficult to get a pair that would fit my face. After much thought, I bought it. The following weekend, I showed up in Tagaytay sporting my new sunnies. I didn't know that my SIL also bought herself a pair. We were wearing the same brand of sunnnies and the same brand (and style) of shirt. The only difference was the color and probably, the shirt size. ------------------ Anyway, I think it's about time I get a new pair. I've been searching for something I really like. It was on my to-buy list in HK ,...

Why...

...do they display items at the store window if they have no intention of selling them? After having brunch with my husband and my little boy, we were on our way back to the car when two pairs of shoes caught my eye. Two shops, one beside the other, had really nice pair of sandals on display. I went inside the first store to see if they have the nice wedge strappy sandals in my size. I was informed that they don't have any stock because they weren't for sale. Disappointed, I went into the next store beside it. This time, I wanted to check out the nice pair of black-heeled shoes. Again, the SA told me that it is only for the mannequins. Ganda! It seems that I wasn't meant to get any pair of shoes today. I hope this doesn't start a trend. I used to have good luck with shoes.

I was too late

One of the business ventures I was planning to get into is now out of the question. Somebody already opened a branch right across my target location. I was so dismayed when I saw an email advertising the new location of the business. Well, I'll just have to accept the fact that it is not for me. On the other hand, it could still be mine once I find another location.

Ganon?

I do not use my credit card loosely. I mainly use it for gas, groceries and other necessities. I was dismayed to find out that my two latest credit card purchases were declined. It was all because the chip and magnetic stripe are no longer readable. Good thing, I came prepared with cash. I rarely bring cash because I always use my debit card or my charge card. Just imagine the inconvenience this caused me and my wallet. I called the bank today to request for a card replacement. I was appalled to find out that I'd have to shoulder the fee of nearly $10. Then, I'd receive my new card after three working days. Ganon? Why do I have to pay for a replacement? The mere fact that I use my card regularly and that I pay may bill on time should be enough. They've gotten enough business from me. Besides, why would they issue a card valid for five years if the chip and stripe are good enough for only four? That alone is a major rip-off. I argued that I didn't do anything...

Survivors in HK - Day 1

Vic and I survived 4 days in Hong Kong with Johann, without the yaya in tow. I was hopeful that the little boy wouldn't be a handful. However, traveling with his cousins excited him to no end. Riding the plane for the first time made Johann giddy. He kept on playing with tray table and kept on kicking the seat in front of us. The flight to HK was so full but we were fortunate enough to have a vacant seat next to us. It was initially occupied but the flight attendant transferred the occupant to give us more room. Vic and I were so thankful. We were fortunate enough to stay at the Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel in the posh area of TST. The most luxurious shops are just an elevator-ride away. Just imagine the temptation to spend thousands of dollars in one of these shops. After leaving our luggage at the hotel for safe-keeping, we proceeded to the nearby mall for lunch. Since the place is beside Toys R Us, we just had to make a stop. We ended up getting too many for us to carry....
