Survivors in HK - Day 3

By this time, I haven't gotten myself anything of value. All I've gotten on the first day were pasalubong items for the people back home. This day was solely for shopping. I hoped to squeeze in some time for outlet shopping in Citygate.

That morning, after breakfast, Vic, Vic's dad, Johann and I went to Mongkok to get Vic his new toy. He has this sudden interest in photography so our current point-and-shoot camera would not suffice. He's been scouting for one with a good price back in Manila so he knows if HK offers a better price. He indeed got a better one from Broadway, complete with a memory stick, tripod and bag. With his craving for an SLR satisfied already, we are off to my hunt for great bargains.

Since it was only my second time in HK, I did not know where to go. Besides, the place where we can go to is limited to stroller-friendly areas. The shops in Mongkok were filled with items for winter so I didn't end up with a lot of pieces. I got several shirts from Bossini. Fortunately, there were various shops on sale inside Harbour City. I bought most of my pasalubong for my family from the Esprit outlet and Marks and Spencer. I also got a classic pair of black pumps from the Nine West boutique which offers 40% off. The pair of sandals I was eyeing from FCUK was not on sale. Zara's selection was not as varied as what we have in Shang or Rockwell. After our early New Year's Eve dinner at Arirang, we headed to Mothercare for some additional shopping for the kids.

We also made a stop at Gucci, which happens to be on sale. (Un)fortunately, I didn't find anything I like. Besides, I find the crowd inside the place so distasteful for a luxury boutique. The LV boutique always had a queue. I am too lazy to line-up just to get inside. No bag for now. I didn't want to spend so much on something I am not yearning to own.

Vic feels guilty that he spent so much on one item that he wanted me to get something substantial also. I made a mental note to drop by the shops along Canton road first thing the next day. I also wanted to visit H&M, but I had no idea where to look for it.

Since our room had a view of the harbor, we hoped to see part of the fireworks display at the turn of the year. The FIL and SIL's family crowded inside our room to see the display. Unfortunately, our view was blocked by several buildings. They ended up going somewhere else. I, on the other hand, watched the fireworks through their reflection in the neighboring buildings. Vic and Johann slept as the clock struck 12.

That was our last night in HK, I was up till 2am getting ready for our departure the next day.

Excited

That is how I felt when I got up from bed this morning. There are just so many things to do and to look forward to this week. I'd have to... ... get hold of CCP to discuss a possible tie-up for the next Three Festival. I may need to get some contacts from Tito Bal. ... get the space application form from Ayala Malls. ... visit the furniture fair at SMX this weekend. ... get a new copy of our marriage certificate for Vic's Visa renewal. ... obtain franchise terms from my top two food chains. ... interview the new househelp prospect. ...see if we can finally sell our SUV to make room for a bigger one. I hope I can get started soon. I hope Javi's yaya gets well right away so I can slip and get some of these done.

Luxury Bags in Japan

Since almost everyone I know visited Japan this summer, I would like re-live my visit this year through this post.  This time, I will focus on luxury bags. We've heard about the usual reseller shops that house these luxury brands.  The one I can remember now is Daikokuya. I must've visited almost all reseller shops I've seen on the road.  I've noticed that these shops carry the top 3 popular ones:  Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.  There still are several pieces of Balenciaga, Valentino, Tory Burch, Celine, Gucci and Michael Kors but not as abundant as the top 3.  I guess what carries the most value are the three popular ones. If you are looking for cheap designer bags, I suggest checking out Don Quixote.  You will usually find on the topmost floors on Donki.  I think this is the one in Shinjuku. I am not so sure. You find them arranged like this or inside locked glass cabinets.  I'm sure the artisans who made these bags will turn in their graves seein

Life Lately

For several months now, my husband and I have been juggling the EV importing business and this ambulatory center we are putting up.  In August, we hosted a grand birthday party for FIL, received balikbayans then sent them off.  The kids started school in August too.  Did I say that their schools are quite far from each other? It has been a busy past few months.  I am not used to waking up early every morning to bring the kids to school then head off to work.  I am starting to feel tired.   It is an adjustment.  At first, I was enjoying being an "empty nester" when all kids are in school.  But now that work is piling up, I miss those quiet times at home.   I am so looking forward to having a vacation soon. I need to recharge.
