This day started really early. I didn't get to sleep last night since Johann was acting up. I think he sensed that I had to leave for a few days. He was extra clingy. He always wanted to hug me and sleep beside me. So packing for this trip was a challenge. I decided to put him to bed first so I can do something productive. I had to wake up at 3am to pack for the trip.

We arrived at the Narita International airport at around 3PM. I am glad that my phone works here. I can easily get in touch with the people back home. I've already made several calls and sent quite a number of text messages so I'll be sure to allow quite a big budget for my phone bill this month.
I also had a chance to visit Times Square after dinner last night. It had a very Manhattan-like feel, only much cleaner. I love the lights and the dainty shops that are on sale. Every thing in the Shinjuku area is fast-paced. As tourists, we can easily get lost in the subway system. It was important to buddy-up since everyone else is wearing black coats like us.
I've seem some very tempting restaurants along the way. I am very much inclined to try them out. I want to dine in an authentic japanese resto.
Here are some interesting facts about our stay.
1. We are given individual rooms but everything else is communal. It is the tiniest room I've ever stayed in.
2. We can only use the shower between 5PM to 11PM. Apparently, they bathe only at night. They were quite surprised that we need to shower before we start our day.
3. We're staying at the Olympic Youth Center but is not only open to the youth.
4. Their paper napkins are literally paper thin and paper-crisp.
5. I never thought I'd be so excited to see McDonald's and 7-11. It is a welcoming sight in a land where English is barely spoken.
That was all the time we had for the night. I definitely want to explore the area a bit more. I am hoping that we'll have time to do that tomorrow night, when we're not as rushed.
Pictures to come.
