Four years and counting

Due to my recent trip, we were forced to move our anniversary celebration to the weekend following my arrival. That way, we weren't pressed for time. That way, we can enjoy our celebration even more. On the actual day of our anniversary, a Wednesday, we just had to be content with a meal from Paseo Uno.

On that weekend, Vic made arrangements for an overnight stay in Mandarin. I was very timely because we had to use up our hotel vouchers which are expiring tomorrow. Upon check-in, we were informed that we had to stay for two nights to avail of the complimentary stay. It caused a minor logistical problem, which was really not an issue. We decided to just bring the kids with us on the following night.

Our celebration started with dinner at Tin Hau. Again, compliments of our hotel membership. Our dinner was nothing special. The service was actually very unsatisfactory. We waited nearly an hour for appetizers and soup. The lady seated across our table stood up and complained to the supervisor. She was given a free entree. It also appeared that their dinner was on the house, too. Oh well, at least we didn't have to pay for dinner, just for the really expensive drinks.

Vic was quite unsatisfied with what we ate. I, on the other hand, was craving for a really good dessert (read: chocolates, what else?). We opted to go to Old Swiss Inn, which was quite walk-able from where we are. I wanted to go to Greenbelt. But dinner ended really late. Everything will be closed by the time we'd get there.

So, here's what we had...

... The Toblerone Fondue. The chocolate is a dead ringer for our favorite Max Brenner's Thick Milk Chocolate. Unfortunately, mangoes and apples do not go well with the chocolate. Everything else on the plate was wiped out.

It was a pleasurable way to end the evening. Well, until we laid eyes on the gay entertainers of Makati Ave.

Gratitude Calendar 11/5

I have always been afraid of the dark.  But growing up and becoming a parent, I have learned to overcome that (along with other fears), so that my children will not grow up fearing trivial things.

Luxury Bags in Japan

Since almost everyone I know visited Japan this summer, I would like re-live my visit this year through this post.  This time, I will focus on luxury bags. We've heard about the usual reseller shops that house these luxury brands.  The one I can remember now is Daikokuya. I must've visited almost all reseller shops I've seen on the road.  I've noticed that these shops carry the top 3 popular ones:  Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.  There still are several pieces of Balenciaga, Valentino, Tory Burch, Celine, Gucci and Michael Kors but not as abundant as the top 3.  I guess what carries the most value are the three popular ones. If you are looking for cheap designer bags, I suggest checking out Don Quixote.  You will usually find on the topmost floors on Donki.  I think this is the one in Shinjuku. I am not so sure. You find them arranged like this or inside locked glass cabinets.  I'm sure the artisans who made these bags will tu...

Gratitude Calendar 2024

I stumbled upon a "challenge" that I thought would be fun and something I can actually do.  I think this will help change my mindset and prepare me for the coming holidays.  Here goes.... Today, I am grateful for the following: 1.  Time for prayer 2.  Convenience of travel and parking when we visited the cemetery 3.  Free lunch
