The past weekend was so busy. I barely had the time to sit in front of the computer and blog. Don't be surprised that I am blogging at this hour.

Last Saturday, Javi was baptized. It was an intimate ceremony, attended by the people who play a significant role in our lives. It was held inside the adoration chapel of Our Lady of Pentecost. We were glad that the officiating priest decided to hold it there. The baptistry was too hot and chaotic because of the First Communion attendees. Javi's godparents consist of Vic's sisters, my siblings, a couple of my relatives and some of our friends. A couple of godparents couldn't make it. We had to pull in some observers to stand-in for them.
The ceremony didn't take long. There was just a short briefing on what will happen. Unlike most parishes, there were no talks on the responsibility of godparents prior to the ceremony. We were off to the reception in 30 minutes.
We've chosen Dencio's in Capitol Hills. Considering that it is a little out-of-the-way and because of the weekend traffic, guests couldn't tailgate one another. Some got lost along the way. While waiting for the food, guests enjoyed the candy canes and the "dirty" ice cream. Johann enjoyed for servings of ice cream. He was also the life of the party, partly due to the ice cream.
I was disappointed with the staff of Dencio's. They failed to take note of my specifications, like where to put the buffet table and the placement of the guest tables. The supervisor in-charge was still finalizing the details of the food with me when I arrived. They could have finalized the details with me prior to the event. A few days earlier, I called to speak with the manager but she didn't return my call. Talk about lack of follow-through.
Anyway, people enjoyed the food we served. The Lechon Sabroso was just enough. The dirty ice cream was more than enough to share with the staff of Dencio's. We had lots of leftover food to bring home. Guests got to take home the balloon decors I had made. I was pleased with Apple of Yanple for indulging my requests, specially the cane-shaped wall balloons. I just wish we'd gotten raw images from Guido.
If only I didn't forget to distribute the tokens I have prepared for the god-parents....

That evening the ACS was slated to sing carols for the Lorenzo family and their friends in Alabang. The last time we sang for them was when I was still in college. Yes, that was a long time ago. I'd forgotten how grand their place was. We gathered at the loft (picture the garage house in the movie Sabrina). Below the loft were VERY nice cars, the most humble model was the E-class. The house opened up to a lawn that connects to the AA Soccer field. That added to the vastness of the place.
We just sang several songs from our repertoire plus the host's request, Pasko na Sinta Ko. The cool breeze of December didn't help our high notes. We shouldn't have bothered with our make-up or our music pieces because the stage area was dimly lit.
Afterwards, we were treated to dinner at Pancake House. The grouped pigged out. We kept them (rude staff of Pancake) busy with our orders and requests. As personal guests of the owner, we were hoping for better service. They could have treated us like paying customers. They didn't deserve to be tipped so they got nothing in the end. I just hope they got paid for their over-time.
