This time it was easier

I couldn't say sweeter. But, this second delivery was definitely less troublesome than the first one.

The November 8 timeline

3:28 AM: I started having contractions. I felt it in the "puson" area extending to my lower back. I went back to sleep to see if it will progress.

3:38 AM: I felt it again. I was hesitant to go to the hospital because I felt the same thing with Johann. I had contractions at around the same time but it stopped after a few hours.

4:15 AM: Left the QC house to drop off Johann at the Pasig residence. Johann was awake the whole drive. I counted around 3 contractions on the way to the hospital. They were at 7-minute intervals.

5:00 AM: Arrival at The Medical City. I proceeded to the Pre-labor room for examination. I was already 5cms dilated. The pain was still bearable. My water hasn't broken yet, still no bloody show.

I was also hooked up to the baby monitor for contractions. Apparently, I was to be admitted because I am already in the early stages of labor. Going back to Pasig to wait for the progression of child-birth is no longer an option.

By this time, I knew that the Lamaze room may not be occupied. Vic couldn't be with me in my time of agony. This time, my stress balls were my best friends.

6:30 AM: I was prepped for my transfer to the labor room. Apparently, the labor room was the Lamaze room I previously occupied when I had Johann. There were two others in the room, waiting for their turn to pop. They were all waiting patiently. I, on the other hand, was writhing in pain. Knowing that I was already 5cms dilated gave me the right to moan and complain.

7:00 AM: I was examined by the resident-on-duty. It seems that the dilation has gone to 7cms. No wonder I am in pain. I was already asking for the epidural. The doctor who'll administer the meds hasn't arrived yet. Why is it that it takes so long for them to come when you need them? I no longer had the strength to squeeze my best friends.

When the epidural finally took effect, I was happy that I was able to rest. On the other hand, I was worried. Epidural slowed down the labor process for me when I had Johann.

A few hours after, the effect began to wear off. I asked for a top-up. This time, the pain was really unbearable. The resident couldn't come because he is in the DR for DNC. I can't recall if I was crying in pain. But, I was sure it was definitely time. It is like the feeling that I am about to poop.

By this time, my two companions already left the labor room. They both went on to deliver their babies. They both occupied the ONLY delivery rooms in the hospital. My OB insisted on opening up the Lamaze room so I can deliver there instead. The residents and staff were arguing they have enough time to prep one of the DRs. It was easier to clean up the DR than move all the equipment to the Lamaze room. So, I was wheeled into the DR just in time for the other mom to be wheeled out of it.

I was thankful that I had some time to rest. I was able to concentrate on my breathing and pushes.

Duh, I was still strong enough to instruct the nurse how to turn on my camera. Duh talaga siya!

9:50 AM: Miguel Javier "Javi" had his first glimpse of the outside world.

Excited

That is how I felt when I got up from bed this morning. There are just so many things to do and to look forward to this week. I'd have to... ... get hold of CCP to discuss a possible tie-up for the next Three Festival. I may need to get some contacts from Tito Bal. ... get the space application form from Ayala Malls. ... visit the furniture fair at SMX this weekend. ... get a new copy of our marriage certificate for Vic's Visa renewal. ... obtain franchise terms from my top two food chains. ... interview the new househelp prospect. ...see if we can finally sell our SUV to make room for a bigger one. I hope I can get started soon. I hope Javi's yaya gets well right away so I can slip and get some of these done.

Luxury Bags in Japan

Since almost everyone I know visited Japan this summer, I would like re-live my visit this year through this post.  This time, I will focus on luxury bags. We've heard about the usual reseller shops that house these luxury brands.  The one I can remember now is Daikokuya. I must've visited almost all reseller shops I've seen on the road.  I've noticed that these shops carry the top 3 popular ones:  Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.  There still are several pieces of Balenciaga, Valentino, Tory Burch, Celine, Gucci and Michael Kors but not as abundant as the top 3.  I guess what carries the most value are the three popular ones. If you are looking for cheap designer bags, I suggest checking out Don Quixote.  You will usually find on the topmost floors on Donki.  I think this is the one in Shinjuku. I am not so sure. You find them arranged like this or inside locked glass cabinets.  I'm sure the artisans who made these bags will tu...

Peacher Grapes

Last weekend, we were invited to PAREF Rosefield's Open House. We've been meaning to formalize our intent to enroll Johann there. It was a great opportunity for us to know more about how the school is run and how it differs from other schools. The Orientation affirmed what we believe, that the parents are the primary educators. They also share the same values that we'd like to foster in our kids. Their method of instruction is not too limitting . It seems to have the right mix of structured and unstructured instruction. We were also informed that the kids got into the big schools of their choice. That speaks well of their effectiveness as a school. I also like the fact that they give formation and skills classes to yayas while they're waiting for their alagas to finish class. -------------------- We brought Johann with us so he'd be more familiar with the faces and the school grounds. There was one kid who wanted to drag him to the play area. She was ...
