On Kiddie Haircuts

It has been more than a month since Johann's first haircut at Cuts4Tots in Trinoma. For his second haircut, we tried the Kid's Salon at the 3rd floor of Rustan's Makati. Being a mom who is always on the look-out for the best deals, I am quick to compare the two.

Here are my points of comparison:
1. Documentation - Both establishments offer certificates to first-time customers. This is a very good memento to both kids and parents. I didn't have time to scrutinize the one from Kid's Salon. However, the Cuts4Tots version includes a pre- and post-haircut picture of the kid. Several strands of hair were also included in the certificate for safe-keeping. Here is a copy of Johann's certificate from Cuts4Tots.

2. Location - Both have branches that are quite accessible to us. I am only aware of two locations for each establishment. Cuts4Tots has branches in Trinoma and Glorietta. Kid's Salon may be found in Rustan's Makati and at the Podium.

3. Kid's entertainment - Each store is equipped with TV monitors, DVD players, and ride-on toys that may be driven. I only wish that Kid Salon's ride-on toys would have seat belts since these are perched high from the floor. When it comes to other forms of distraction, I'd give plus points to Cuts4Tots. They have lots of toys and tactics to keep kids occupied.

4. Space - I must say that Cuts4Tots has more space compared to the Kid's Salons I've seen in Rustan's and Podium. Space is quite important because moms like us tend to bring so much travel gear and supplies whenever we go out. It is a necessity if you have a whole entourage traveling with you. We need also need the space to entertain our kids when we wait for our turn.

5. Membership - Both offer membership for a fee. Again, I didn't bother inquiring since I am not interested.

6. Cover-up Cape - For kids who want to drive their ride-on toys, it is important to have arm-holes in their capes. It would defeat the purpose of covering up the clothes if the arms would just slide through the division. Kid's Salon's cover-up was fastened by a huge metal paper-clip. For that, I deduct major kid-friendly points. If a kid is too fussy, he may end up scratching his face.

7. Skill level of hair cutters - The female hair cutter we had from Cuts4Tots was quite adept with scissors and high-spirited toddlers. Despite the fussiness, Johann's haircut was done rather quickly. She also knew how to veer away Johann's fear of the vibrating shaver.

At the time we visited Kid's salon, only male cutters were around. This was already a matter of concern for me since my little boy is more friendly to females. In the end, the process took a longer time since my little boy kept peeking at the male hair cutter. It was quite disconcerting because he kept turning his head towards the scissors.

All in all, I believe that my experience in C4T is more pleasant than KS. How was yours?

The place is kid-friendly. As a mother, I find that reassuring.

Excited

That is how I felt when I got up from bed this morning. There are just so many things to do and to look forward to this week. I'd have to... ... get hold of CCP to discuss a possible tie-up for the next Three Festival. I may need to get some contacts from Tito Bal. ... get the space application form from Ayala Malls. ... visit the furniture fair at SMX this weekend. ... get a new copy of our marriage certificate for Vic's Visa renewal. ... obtain franchise terms from my top two food chains. ... interview the new househelp prospect. ...see if we can finally sell our SUV to make room for a bigger one. I hope I can get started soon. I hope Javi's yaya gets well right away so I can slip and get some of these done.

Luxury Bags in Japan

Since almost everyone I know visited Japan this summer, I would like re-live my visit this year through this post.  This time, I will focus on luxury bags. We've heard about the usual reseller shops that house these luxury brands.  The one I can remember now is Daikokuya. I must've visited almost all reseller shops I've seen on the road.  I've noticed that these shops carry the top 3 popular ones:  Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.  There still are several pieces of Balenciaga, Valentino, Tory Burch, Celine, Gucci and Michael Kors but not as abundant as the top 3.  I guess what carries the most value are the three popular ones. If you are looking for cheap designer bags, I suggest checking out Don Quixote.  You will usually find on the topmost floors on Donki.  I think this is the one in Shinjuku. I am not so sure. You find them arranged like this or inside locked glass cabinets.  I'm sure the artisans who made these bags will turn in their graves seein

Life Lately

For several months now, my husband and I have been juggling the EV importing business and this ambulatory center we are putting up.  In August, we hosted a grand birthday party for FIL, received balikbayans then sent them off.  The kids started school in August too.  Did I say that their schools are quite far from each other? It has been a busy past few months.  I am not used to waking up early every morning to bring the kids to school then head off to work.  I am starting to feel tired.   It is an adjustment.  At first, I was enjoying being an "empty nester" when all kids are in school.  But now that work is piling up, I miss those quiet times at home.   I am so looking forward to having a vacation soon. I need to recharge.
