You heard the gist here. What happens next?
I am actually undecided and uncertain. I consulted a dentist-friend due to the urgency of the situation. She advised giving paracetamol and antibiotics. She also doesn't recommend extracting the theeth.
The following day, we went to a pedia-dentist. She recommended the same meds but she gave me two options. First is the cheaper solution: Extraction. Second: Root Canal and Crowning.
The first option is the quickest way to relieve the pain. He will be given an oral sedative so the dentist can perform the extraction. He will only be groggy not totally asleep. The downside is he will be toothless till he turns 7. I hope it doesn't foster insecurity. Another downside is it seffect on the growth of the permanent teeth.
The second option would entail several procedures. Though the procedures will attempt to save the teeth, it is obviously the more expensive option. Let's just say that I can already purchase an LV Damier Speedy for the price of the root canal and the crowning of the teeth. In addition to that, Javi will be given a more potent anaesthesia to put him to sleep. The downside is even the dentist is uncertain if the tooth will still stay in position. There is a possibility that it will fall off weeks after the procedure. I do not want Javi to endure the pain of the root canal if it will result to that.
So, do we save the teeth or not?
I am more concerned about the pain and the trauma. I think we went back to square one since the accident. He whines more than usual. He only wants me or his Ate to hold him. He is afraid to walk since his fall. He cries at night because he couldn't suck his thumb or drink his milk to comfort him.
Every time he cries, I hope the yayas are reminded of how cautious they should be at all times. I hope they realize that they failed to protect him. I hope they feel guilty whenever Javi cries in pain.
It has been a week. Javi still hasn't drunk from his bottle. He satisfies his hunger with Chuckie, juices, YanYan, biscuits, bread and lugaw. This afternoon, he ate dry rice. I hope it is uphill from here.
