MVP and the Ateneo

Singing for MVP's birthday mass is always in our yearly engagements line-up. This was our way of thanking our benefactor for all his help and support.

I remember when we first approached him for help. We were preparing for the 2000 European tour. We got him as one of our major sponsors. In exchange for his financial aid, we sang and recorded his company's jingle. They also wanted the choir to appear in the commercial. We stayed up to the wee hours at the Enterprise building's helipad waiting for the sunrise. All these for only a few seconds on air. Fun times!

Lunch was a buffet of roast beef, buttered fish fillet and turkey. The food was kinda blah. The star of the buffet were the veggies that came with the turkey. The veggies were really good, in fairness.

According to my DPA, the varsity basketball team went to the U.S. early this year for a series of training sessions. It seems that they are too distracted when they're training in Manila. I hope that this would result to more victories this UAAP season. If only the ACS can get the same grant from him. We can learn a lot from the European choirs out there.

So much has changed in my alma mater. Apart from the new buildings, there are modern sculptures adorning the empty lots. There's also a small bookstore that sells Ateneo merchandise (shirts, jackets, umbrellas, notebooks, etal.). There are also two Figaro outlets within the campus. I hope to go around the entire campus when I have time spare. I can't wait to see the other changes.

I have always been afraid of the dark.  But growing up and becoming a parent, I have learned to overcome that (along with other fears), so that my children will not grow up fearing trivial things.

Luxury Bags in Japan

Since almost everyone I know visited Japan this summer, I would like re-live my visit this year through this post.  This time, I will focus on luxury bags. We've heard about the usual reseller shops that house these luxury brands.  The one I can remember now is Daikokuya. I must've visited almost all reseller shops I've seen on the road.  I've noticed that these shops carry the top 3 popular ones:  Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.  There still are several pieces of Balenciaga, Valentino, Tory Burch, Celine, Gucci and Michael Kors but not as abundant as the top 3.  I guess what carries the most value are the three popular ones. If you are looking for cheap designer bags, I suggest checking out Don Quixote.  You will usually find on the topmost floors on Donki.  I think this is the one in Shinjuku. I am not so sure. You find them arranged like this or inside locked glass cabinets.  I'm sure the artisans who made these bags will tu...

Gratitude Calendar 2024

I stumbled upon a "challenge" that I thought would be fun and something I can actually do.  I think this will help change my mindset and prepare me for the coming holidays.  Here goes.... Today, I am grateful for the following: 1.  Time for prayer 2.  Convenience of travel and parking when we visited the cemetery 3.  Free lunch
