The month is just half-way through and it has been quite eventful. There were just too many requirements to submit for Johann's school, for the DFA appointment and for the franchise application. We also attended our first orientation as parents of a preschooler on the first weekend.
Today, we celebrated Johann's birthday. I didn't want to make a big deal out of this celebration since the big one is coming next week. I got lechon manok, liempo and a cheap-o cake (see image below) to share with the people here at home. I can tell that Johann liked blowing his candle. He's been trying to hide his smile. Naco-conscious na ang bata.
I think I'll make it a point to have a cake and a candle-blowing ceremony every birthday to make the kids feel that we're still celebrating their big day.
A few days before Johann's birthday was Johann's first day in preschool. He was well-behaved during the first hour, helping the teaching aide pack-away toys and books. He has already made friends, one is a former classmate in the summer session and the other one, a new seatmate. By the second hour, he already found a person to dislike. Well, I do not blame him. The girl was just too hyperactive and too loud.
Here he is, wearing his uniform. I hope he settles down in school soon, so I can spend more time with Javi.
Early this month, we brought Bettina to the National Health Institute in UP Manila for her G6PD confirmatory test. A week later, we confeeeeeeeeermed that she has that particular deficiency that would predispose her to anemia. We were given a list of food and medicine elements to avoid. Poor kid. She'll lead a normal life with just too many restrictions. Now I know why God gave us two boys and one girl.
This was also the month I met up with old friends. We caught up on gossip and talked about old times. It was a fun afternoon.
June also proved to be an expensive month. We dealt with tuition fees, school uniforms and supplies. Next week, we're having a joint party for Bettina's baptism and Johann's party. We're also in the middle of doing minor cosmetic improvements in time for this celebration. We had to purchase new plants to counter the damage of last summer's heat.
Thank God the month is almost over. I can hardly wait for July.
Hong Kong mid-year sale, here I come!
