I was in Ateneo the day after the tragic incident in AGS. I noticed extra security upon entering the campus even at 7:30 in the evening. They were extra strict that night.
Since we had no immediate singing engagment to prepare for, everyone was busy chitchatting. We were trying to get information our insiders.
Insider 1 was bombarded by media-related requests the whole day. The big networks wanted to get into the campus to get insider information. Apparently, one sneaked in after saying that they'd be covering a football game. Hay. The victim's family didn't want to expose the incident to the media. Ateneo was trying to protect both families since both belong to the Ateneo community.
Also according to Insider 1, the victim's body had to be recovered beneath the van. As for the other victim, the yaya, it seems that her leg would have to be amputated.
Insider 2, on the other hand, would rather not say anything about the situation. She'd rather wait for the result of the investigation. She said that legal action has been commenced. She just finds it unsettling that it is the 3rd loss since 2009 began. The students were just grieving for the former headmaster and a former P.E. teacher. It would be very difficult to process the incident with the kids, specially the younger ones.
After rehearsal, Ayie and I couldn't stop talking about it. Being a mom who is constantly behind the wheel, it hit close to home. We couldn't begin to imagine being in the position of mommy driver or the victim's mom. The thought of losing any of my kids in the mall is already too much to bear.
I prayed all the way home that night.
-------------------------------------
Out of curiosity
- why did they bring the child to New Era? Why not Quirino? They'd have to have to put up with the traffic in UP or Tandang Sora. They'd just have to cross the flyover to get to Quirino.
- Does the victim's family think of this as an accident also? Can they find it in their hearts to forgive the guilty party?
