Make-up and Skin Care

Putting on making for my video recordings has been a struggle lately.  Due to lack of practice, what used to be a 10-minute routine took forever to finish. I am not a professional make-up artist, but I get by when needed.

I was not happy with how the make-up appeared on the video.  I had to wash my face and re-apply a different foundation.  This time, I used a non-reflective one. I had forgotten that stage make-up is different from make-up for the camera.  Make-up for natural light is different from make-up intended for artificial light.

I guess, part of the struggle is having unmaintained skin.  As they say, good make up starts with a good base.  Being stuck at home, all I cared about was not having zits and allergies.  I've been lazy.   I am kind of regretting being inconsistent with my skincare.  I need to go back to my derma for treatments.  My age is also starting to show, so that is a reality I am trying to accept.  I have to be religious in applying my creams and other facial products.

To make the process less painful next time, I've decided to rehearse my make-up for future choral projects.  I remembered to apply my moisturizer before I started layering on my cosmetics.  It was slowly coming back to me.  I've always applied liquid foundation because it doesn't look plastered on my face.  I experimented with different lipstick shades with the artificial light.  I also adjusted my blush and eye make-up just to make sure they don't look washed out.  Why didn't I think of this before?  It would have saved me a lot of time and discomfort.

Finally, I remembered how much I've relied on VCO.  I used it to remove pesky mascara, eyeliners and lipstick without irritating my face.  On trips, I use VCO as an all-around moisturizer.

Here are some of the products I tested in the past few days.

Gratitude Calendar 11/5

I have always been afraid of the dark.  But growing up and becoming a parent, I have learned to overcome that (along with other fears), so that my children will not grow up fearing trivial things.

Luxury Bags in Japan

Since almost everyone I know visited Japan this summer, I would like re-live my visit this year through this post.  This time, I will focus on luxury bags. We've heard about the usual reseller shops that house these luxury brands.  The one I can remember now is Daikokuya. I must've visited almost all reseller shops I've seen on the road.  I've noticed that these shops carry the top 3 popular ones:  Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.  There still are several pieces of Balenciaga, Valentino, Tory Burch, Celine, Gucci and Michael Kors but not as abundant as the top 3.  I guess what carries the most value are the three popular ones. If you are looking for cheap designer bags, I suggest checking out Don Quixote.  You will usually find on the topmost floors on Donki.  I think this is the one in Shinjuku. I am not so sure. You find them arranged like this or inside locked glass cabinets.  I'm sure the artisans who made these bags will tu...

Gratitude Calendar 2024

I stumbled upon a "challenge" that I thought would be fun and something I can actually do.  I think this will help change my mindset and prepare me for the coming holidays.  Here goes.... Today, I am grateful for the following: 1.  Time for prayer 2.  Convenience of travel and parking when we visited the cemetery 3.  Free lunch
