Still On Lockdown

We are on the 4th week.  I am not complaining.  There are news of extending the ECQ and I am all for it.  In fact, we've decided that even if the lockdown were lifted, we'd still stay put at home.  There are still a lot of infected people out there who haven't been tested.  Especially now that we are hearing about how much it costs to stay in the hospital, more people will be inclined to just go about it on their own and roam around the city with no care.

More food establishments opening up. I do not know how they are staffing their stores without public transportation. But, I hope we’d have a chance to satisfy our cravings. I need my iced mocha fix.  I am still craving for Korean Banchan (?). I just hope I can get the ingredients so I can recreate these dishes at home. But, with people becoming more mobile, won’t the threat of the virus be more intensified?

I've been busy baking.  I was able to get my supplies before the Holy Week and was able to make cakes for Vic's nieces.  I know how difficult it is to get cakes at this time.  I was also able to fulfill my cake orders from new and repeat customers.  I am SO okay with NOT being in the kitchen anytime soon.

Vic and I have also started decluttering and disposing a lot of things.  Oh, we've accumulated a massive amount of stuff since we lived in this house. I am gradually dealing with the mess in one storage room.  Hopefully, it will be more organized by the time the ECQ is lifted.  We've set aside items for donation, toys and baby stuff for others to use, paper stuff to throw out and school materials to reuse. I unearthed old Halloween costumes, school IDs, mementoes from when the kids were in pre-school.  I even found an old balik-bayan box with unused towels, socks and shirts.

Now that the kids have grown, I have to seriously think about disposing the toys cluttering the den.  I would like to redecorate it.  I already have a new color scheme and a different layout in mind.  Hehehe.  Do we need more desk space where they can study?  Maybe a home office?  Some of the furniture have seen better days and I am very inclined to have them re-upholstered. Should I just buy a new set?  Now that the house is more lived in, I noticed that some pieces of furniture are not fit for our lifestyle.

Oh well, this project would have to wait. A lot of things would have to wait.

Gratitude Calendar 11/5

I have always been afraid of the dark.  But growing up and becoming a parent, I have learned to overcome that (along with other fears), so that my children will not grow up fearing trivial things.

Luxury Bags in Japan

Since almost everyone I know visited Japan this summer, I would like re-live my visit this year through this post.  This time, I will focus on luxury bags. We've heard about the usual reseller shops that house these luxury brands.  The one I can remember now is Daikokuya. I must've visited almost all reseller shops I've seen on the road.  I've noticed that these shops carry the top 3 popular ones:  Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.  There still are several pieces of Balenciaga, Valentino, Tory Burch, Celine, Gucci and Michael Kors but not as abundant as the top 3.  I guess what carries the most value are the three popular ones. If you are looking for cheap designer bags, I suggest checking out Don Quixote.  You will usually find on the topmost floors on Donki.  I think this is the one in Shinjuku. I am not so sure. You find them arranged like this or inside locked glass cabinets.  I'm sure the artisans who made these bags will tu...

Gratitude Calendar 2024

I stumbled upon a "challenge" that I thought would be fun and something I can actually do.  I think this will help change my mindset and prepare me for the coming holidays.  Here goes.... Today, I am grateful for the following: 1.  Time for prayer 2.  Convenience of travel and parking when we visited the cemetery 3.  Free lunch
