Here's a quick run down of what my family did last week. I'm sure yours was just as busy.
Unlike most Manilans, we decided to stay in the city this year. It was usually a quick trip to Tagaytay and Visita Iglesia along the way. We spent some part of the Holy Week checked in a hotel. I used up my membership's complimentary night stay. We enjoyed the pool and the sumptuous dinner buffet. I was tempted to enjoy the spa as well, but I didn't give in to temptation. It was a relaxing stay until our latest household drama.
That same night, a stranger entered our almost-empty house. It seemed that two of my yayas decided to let Yaya A's boyfriend inside. On the morning before we left, we were informed by the neighbors that the boyfriend has been sneaking into the house late at night. Then he sneaks out at dawn. Vic authorized the guards to capture the trespasser and to turn him over to the Baranggay police. Needless to say, our lovely dinner was interrupted. We had to go home to deal with the errant yayas. Vic dealt with the Police and the Village Security.
For the 3rd time in six months, I was asked to be a god-mother to a baby boy. I attended an unusual service last Saturday. It was an hour of songs and readings. No seminars or lectures from priests. No candle lighting either. God-parents were only asked to make the sign of the cross on the baby's forehead.
On Good Friday, we went to the Bonifacio High Street for the Way of the Cross. It was very creative and very modern. There were too many people and dogs. It was too distracting. It just affirmed that I still prefer the traditional Way of the Cross. I missed the readings and the solemnity of the ritual.

It seemed that we were one with God in his struggle to Calvary. As my family struggle with the new living arrangements, I pray for continued patience and understanding. With only one yaya left to help with chores and looking after the kids, I hope it will get easier in the days to come. I know God will provide us with our needs. I just hope help comes before I breakdown.
