In the past few weeks, I've been gathering requirements for our yaya's passport application. For our year-end trip, we are planning to bring all three kids and one help since we can not manage all three.
For our first appearance, I've asked her to get her birth certificate from NSO, a baranggay ID, her Fetcher's ID and the ID from our subdivision. Since she doesn't have any other government issued IDs, I was hoping that those were enough to prove her identity. So when we went to DFA to get her passport and Bettina's, I wasn't surprised that she was asked to present more documents. We finished Bettina's application within two hours, thanks to the courtesy lane. Yaya, on the other hand, was instructed to get her documents from her hometown.
The following day, her mother managed to get a transcribed copy of her birth certificate from the local Civil Registrar, unearth past school IDs and diploma and was able to secure a copy of her Form 137. By Monday, we already have the documents with us. Our only prayer was to get the NBI clearance right away.
While that is being processed, I filed for another DFA appointment which was set today. We've decided to go through with the application even if the NBI clearance isn't ready. By 830AM, I was informed that the DFA is asking for another requirement. Ggggrrrrr!!!! She was asked to go to Intramuros to get a Voter's Registration Certificate.
I really don't get it. What proof would it give? I understand the NBI clearance requirement, which they didn't ask for in the 2nd appointment.
I am beginning to sense that those people are really making it difficult for no reason at all. Power tripping ba? Ayaw ba nila ng passport application fee? Ayaw ba nilang lumago ang travel industry?
It seems that we've been encountering resistance every step of the way. I haven't even told the story of how the Baranggay ID went around the city before she got hold of it. Hay, Murphy, layuan mo ako!
Though it is starting to get on my nerves, I really leave it up to Him. But, may I just say that I really hate dealing with government agencies?
