A Wedding in Palawan

A distant cousin got married to a Palawan local last weekend. Most of my relatives were there to witness the ceremony courtesy of a wealthy (but miserly) uncle. The rites were held at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Puerto Princesa. The reception followed HOURS later at the Asturias Hotel.

Needless to say, it was nice to be in the company of people who I haven't spent time with for years. Cousins caught up with the latest gossip. Newly-widowed Titas joined in the modernized bouquet toss. It would have been nicer if changes in plans were communicated to us WAY in advance. Buti na lang, we were flexible enough to adapt to the changes. I could just imagine the Titas complaining and whining non-stop.

The wedding coordinator seemed non-existent. He was not around when you need him. He was there when you didn't need him. The accommodations were acceptable though we had problems coordinating with the front desk personnel. There was inadequate preparation for the transportation and lodging for the out-of-town guests. The venue styling was lovely. The food was good. The open bar was a hit. The music had its good and bad moments. The sound system operator needs to be trained. Most of the suppliers seemed so unprofessional. Maybe, their standards are just not up to par with what I am used to. There were just so many "Hay naku!" moments.

It is a good thing that Vic made other travel arrangements because we couldn't rely on the arrangements made for us.

Luxury Bags in Japan

Since almost everyone I know visited Japan this summer, I would like re-live my visit this year through this post.  This time, I will focus on luxury bags. We've heard about the usual reseller shops that house these luxury brands.  The one I can remember now is Daikokuya. I must've visited almost all reseller shops I've seen on the road.  I've noticed that these shops carry the top 3 popular ones:  Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.  There still are several pieces of Balenciaga, Valentino, Tory Burch, Celine, Gucci and Michael Kors but not as abundant as the top 3.  I guess what carries the most value are the three popular ones. If you are looking for cheap designer bags, I suggest checking out Don Quixote.  You will usually find on the topmost floors on Donki.  I think this is the one in Shinjuku. I am not so sure. You find them arranged like this or inside locked glass cabinets.  I'm sure the artisans who made these bags will tu...

Gratitude Calendar 2024

Today, I am grateful for the following: 1.  Time for prayer 2.  Convenience of travel and parking when we visited the cemetery 3.  Free lunch
